A leisure trip is very different from a business trip. For a business trip you go with a specific objective that you need to fulfill, while a leisure trip is your time to relax and doesn’t involve so many obligations.
On a leisure trip you take clothes according to the local climate, but if something doesn’t turn out as planned you can adapt with what you have available.
When traveling for work, you’ll often be attending important events and meetings, meeting clients, and other activities where you’ll need to look your best.
For everything to go smoothly, your suitcase needs to be organized with pieces that will fit almost every occasion without being too bulky.
Read on to find out all the tips:
Wildcard neutral pieces
Opting for neutral and wildcard pieces is ideal for putting together a compact suitcase, which will make it much easier for you to move around and organize your clothes in your room.
You don’t need to take too many pieces with you, because you can use them to create many different variations that go together, without looking like you’re repeating the look.
With them you won’t run the risk of not having the right clothes for a particular occasion, because they adapt very well to any dress code, as they move between the basics and the classics.
Good options to take with you are a white or black dress shirt, likewise dress pants and jeans, basic t-shirts, a blazer and a jacket.
Social clothing for hot and cold weather
Regardless of whether you’ve seen the weather forecast before you travel, it’s not recommended that you travel with only the appropriate clothing for this temperature.
It’s always good to have at least one set of clothes for the heat and cold, in case the weather changes and you’re not caught off guard.
In these cases, we recommend packing sleeveless blouses, tank tops, dresses and skirts in cooler fabrics such as silk, viscose and linen.
For the corporate environment it is permissible to bet on these same pieces, but with a little more refinement that tailoring and cotton can add. See examples:
Clothes for events and meetings
Don’t just take sweatshirts and casual clothes that you’re used to wearing in your city and at work.
When traveling, it’s very common to be invited to meetings and special events, as well as the work environment itself, which is new to us, so we need to be aligned.
For these cases, the ideal is to go for the good old suit, a blazer and tailored pants. If you want to innovate a little on the traditional, bring a colorful outfit or replace the pants with a skirt and the suit with a dress.
It’s worth remembering that storing suits in your suitcase requires special care, so follow this step-by-step guide to learn how.
If you have a hard suitcase:
- Hang your suit on the hanger and put it inside a laundry bag or the suit cover itself.
- Fold it in half inside the suitcase, and make it one of the last things to be put in the luggage so it doesn’t get crushed by the other items.
If you’re traveling with a bag, the best option is:
- Turn the blazer inside out, leaving the sleeves inside;
- Fold it in half vertically so that the lapels meet and fold it in half again horizontally.
- Once the blazer has been folded, lay the pants flat on a surface and place the blazer in the middle.
- Then fold the pants so that they wrap around the blazer. Place the suit in the suitcase, preferably on top of the other items, to prevent it from creasing.
Comfortable clothes
Now, if your work routine involves a lot of movement and visits in the field, it’s important to pack comfortable clothes.
Loose-fitting sports pants with elastic. Suplex blouses that allow high flexibility throughout the day and knitwear blouses that are comfortable for all kinds of occasions.
